What We Do

Vision

The 2-tiered vision for Boccia New Zealand is:
1. To develop boccia in New Zealand ensuring it is sustainable, inclusive and progressive; and
2. To be the world's leading boccia nation.

Goals

Develop and promote the sport of boccia throughout New Zealand ensuring the sustainability and longevity of the sport.
Develop and implement world leading programmes for our athletes.
Ensure comprehensive development and participation programmes are available to the wider boccia community.
Broaden the profile of boccia within the sporting and general communities.
Establish a participant base which will support a competitive international presence.
Provide leadership in fostering partnerships, relationships and succession planning relevant to the sport of boccia.

To provide a healthy, safe and inclusive environment for the delivery of boccia and all associated programmes.
To ensure transparency and integrity in our governance and decision making.
To operate with teamwork, cooperation, trust, effective communication and mutual respect.
To continue to develop a performance based culture ensuring a strong work ethic and accountability in all that we do.

To continue to promote altruism and recognise our dedicated volunteer workforce.

Strategic Priorities

1. Marketing and Promotions
·         Broaden the appeal of boccia, with an emphasis on changing existing attitudes and perceptions about the sport.
·         Integrate boccia education and awareness initiatives through existing opportunities.
·         Increase the level of exposure that the sport of boccia has to the wider community.
·         Develop strong, on-going links with disability service providers.

2. Sport Development
·         Strengthen boccia’s resources at the grassroots level - developing the base infrastructure to enable the sport of boccia to grow in both
           size and strength of competition.
·         Build strong, sustainable boccia clubs which focus on sports performance and education.
·         Ensure that talented athletes are fully supported in their development.

3. People Development
·         Increase the capacity of boccia to deliver multiple high quality programmes.
·         Ensure all boccia events and competitions are conducted by qualified officials.
·         Educate, retrain, retain and reward boccia volunteers.
·         Provide information effectively and efficiently to all boccia clubs and service providers.

4. High Performance
·         Increase the number of elite athletes with medal winning characteristics through all stages of high performance planning.
·         Increase the number of coaches capable of coaching elite athletes.
·         Maximise the effective integration and utilisation of all available resources.
